Sensor Installed

The BLE seat sensor is discreetly mounted under the passenger seat. It sends occupancy status via Bluetooth to the GPS tracker.

The tracker receives the BLE signal and encodes seat occupancy into the trip data — as an IO element directly in the data stream.

Occupancy data feeds into fare-evasion detection and passenger counting — for more precise analysis and fewer false alarms.

Independent of Taximeter

The sensor works completely independently of the taximeter. Even if the meter is not running, passenger presence is reliably detected.

Cumulative occupancy data allows analysis of how frequently the vehicle is actually used with a passenger.

How does the BLE sensor work technically?
The sensor contains a pressure switch or capacitive sensor that detects seat load and broadcasts a BLE signal. The Teltonika tracker receives this via IO element 331.
Can the driver tamper with the sensor?
Tampering is possible but would show up in the system, as unexpected patterns — e.g. consistently empty seat with taximeter running — are flagged as suspicious.
Is the sensor low-maintenance?
Yes — the sensor runs on a battery that lasts several months to years depending on usage. A battery change takes just a few minutes.
How many seats can be monitored?
Currently the passenger seat (front or rear) is monitored. Multi-seat configurations are possible for specific projects.
